The 2014-2015 General Medical Services and Personal Medical Services contracts require all practices to make available and promote Patient Online services to their patients. This includes:
- Booking appointments online
- Ordering repeat prescriptions online
- Online access to summary information from their record
and can be accessed using a computer, tablet or smartphone rather than having to phone or visit the practice.
Online services will complement and not replace the existing ways patients access appointments, prescriptions and their records.
More importantly, research has shown that patients who are actively involved in their own care have improved outcomes and better medicine compliance.
Registering with the online services from 1st April 2015 will automatically allow you to gain access to your summary care record. If you have registered before this date you will not have automatic access. Please contact the surgery for further information.
From 31st March 2016 access to the detailed coded information in records will be provided on request only.
